Professional Development Series: Education Professionals Q&A Panel
Tuesday, October 27th, 6:00-8:00 PM
Our chapter Historian/APEX and Professional Development Series Coordinator, Kayla Kishbaugh, planned a Q&A panel for all students in the College of Education. The panel consisted of education profesionals (a retired superindentant, an assistant superindentant, an elementary school principal, a director of pupil services, and a middle school science teacher). The panelists volunteered their time to answer questions that students at West Chester University had about their future careers as educators. There were 70 students who attended the event.

Southeast Regional Conference: Healthy Children, Healthy Schools

Our chapter and southeast region Secretary, Amanda Gilbert, coordinated the 2015 Southeast Region Confernece: Healthy Children, Healthy Schools. Future educators from the region learend different ways to promote health awarenress in schools. There were thirteen different speakers who attended the conference to speak about low-income students, yoga in the classroom, personal wellness, students with chronic illnesses, and more.

Members attended an English Language Learners panel where they took part in a discussion, asked questions, and learned how to better support ELLs in the classroom.

TASP/IPA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE RESEARCH PRESENTATIONS

Members of our chapter completed research with our faculty advisor, Dr. Michael Bell, and presented it at the TASP/IPA International Conference held at Rutgers University. The presentations were about teens and young adults with disabilities and their play lives, trails and play, and yoga and play. One of the members received a scholarship for her work, and will be published in the International Jounral of Play.
